This week’s Colombo Tea Auction recorded 4.7 million kg of tea on offer out of which 2.05 million kg were from the Low Grown Main Grades and 1.68 million kg were High and Mid Grown Main Grades, the Asia Siyaka Report stated.
Low Growns had met with fair demand, it said adding that in the leafy grade catalogues liquoring stylish OP1s held firm, while below best and others were firm to dearer.
Semi Leafy catalogues few stylish BOP1s held firm; below best and others lost out in value once again. Select best and bolder Pekoe’s held firm, while below best and others decline in value.
There was fair general demand for this week’s liquoring teas at the Ex-Estate auction. Select best Western BOPs were dearer upto Rs.50, while below best and others were about firm. Western BOPFs were a firm market. Small selection of Nuwara Eliya BOPs were irregular with hardly any BOPFs were on offer.
Udapussellwa BOPs were lower upto Rs.50, while others were irregular tending lower. Well-made BOPFs were firm, others irregularly lower. Well-made Uva BOPs were firm; while others were lower upto Rs.50. BOPFs were lower to Rs.50 and more. CTC BP1s were about firm on last, while better PF1s maintained; and below best sorts tended lower upto Rs.100. (SD)
