Colombo Tea Auction had on offer 6.66 million kg of tea this week with 2.94 million kg of Low Grown Main Grades and 2.3 million kg of High and Mid Grown Main Grades.
In the Leafy and Semi Leafy catalogues BOP1s gained in value; whilst OP1s were firm to dearer following quality; others were dearer. Select best Pekoe's were dearer; others declined in value. Select best Pekoe1s were firm on last week's levels; others were irregular.
In the Small leaf catalogues FBOP1s appreciated in value, whilst select best FBOPFs were firm on last, below best were marginally dearer; others were lower. In the Premium Flowery catalogues select best varieties firm, whilst best/improved be low best varieties appreciated.
Fair general demand in the Ex-Estate catalogues. Best Western BOP/BOPFs gained on special inquiry. Below best were about firm. Bottom irregular. Hardly any Nuwara Eliya's on offer. Udapussellawa's were irregularly lower. Best Mediums were firm to sharply dearer; others were barely steady. CTC BP1s were about firm on last. CTC PF1s upto Rs.50 dearer. (SD)
