The MAS Thulhiriya garment factory has been shut down following the detection of 400 COVID-19 positive cases about two days ago.
A MAS group spokesperson told Times Online that the MAS Thulhiriya factory has been shut down but will reopen shortly following discussions underway at present in this regard.
He noted that the company employees have been sent to the COVID-19 care centres run by the government and the ones run by MAS at Giriulla.
Labour Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva has asked the Labour Commissioner to carry out an investigation into the incident and whether the required labour committees were established within the factory under the current conditions. (SD)
