Sri Lanka’s award-winning crab restaurant, Ministry of Crab founded by chef-restaurateur Dharshan Munidasa together with Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 27th of February.
Ministry of Crab in Kuala Lumpur is in partnership with Lotus Capital DKR, the investment arm of Lotus Group, one of Malaysia’s largest and most diversified conglomerates, who are playing a key role shaping the country’s evolving culinary landscape.
Speaking at the opening Chef Dharshan said, ‘Kuala Lumpur has always been on our radar. This restaurant has been five years in the making—we were here in 2020 scouting for locations just as the pandemic happened. After that, we resumed our search and better late than never, we’re finally here’.
The Malaysian restaurant marks Ministry of Crab’s seventh international outpost after Shanghai, Mumbai, Maldives, Bangkok, Chengdu, and Singapore. Ministry of Crab, Kuala Lumpur is located at TUAH 1895, the city’s newest dining and lifestyle hotspot, nestled in the historic heart of Jalan Hang Tuah and inspired by the bustling energy of Bukit Bintang at the centre of the city.
Attending the launch event Mahela shared, “We are very happy to be in Malaysia, this has always been a destination we wanted to bring Ministry of Crab to. It’s something we are extremely proud of, from showcasing the Sri Lankan mud crab and the finest ingredients, bringing this experience to the vibrant city”.
Ministry of Crab, Kuala Lumpur features dishes that are synonymous with the flagship in Colombo and will employ the same no-freezer policy that has become a hallmark of Ministry of Crab, Colombo. To uphold this standard, the finest mud crabs and freshwater prawns are air flown from Sri Lanka, ensuring the highest quality ingredients are plated up in their freshest form.
Ministry of Crab Kuala Lumpur is located at GF-03 and M-03M, TUAH 1895, No. 2 Jalan Hang Tuah, 55100, Kuala Lumpur.
