Sri Lanka Insurance has paid the largest claim ever in the history of Sri Lankan insurance pertaining to a banker’s indemnity insurance, a total of Rs. 157,484,139 which was settled to the Bank of Ceylon Thalawa Branch for a burglary claim.
The cheque of the claim was handed over to D.P.K. Gunasekara – General Manager Bank of Ceylon by Chandana L. Aluthgama CEO of Sri Lanka Insurance. A.R.Mallikarachchi, AGM Administrative Services of Bank of Ceylon, H.M.Gajadeera Arachchi, Chief Manager Supplies Department/Ceybank Insurance of Bank of Ceylon, Lalith De Silva, Head of Distribution - General Insurance of SLIC, Milanga Chandiram, Senior Manager Corporate Business Division, Ms. Achintha Jayawardhane, Asst. Manager for Public Sector of SLIC were also present at the occasion, .
The Sri Lanka Insurance banker’s indemnity insurance covers various risks related to the banking sector inclusive of fire, riot and strike, burglary, theft, robbery and various financial risks pertaining to routine operations, the insurance company said in a media release.
