The Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), recently announced its corporate partnership with Axiata Digital Labs (ADL) to promote collaborative projects to uplift Digital Transformation initiatives in Sri Lanka.
Abbas Kamrudeen, Chairman FITIS said “the partnership comes into effect at a time when Digital Transformation is perceived as an absolute necessity for businesses to stay resilient during the unprecedented outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic”.
In a FITIS media release, he said the ‘New Normal’ brings about many opportunities for the ICT Sector with the hyper acceleration of demand for technologies.
“Today we are able to witness people and traders using online platforms to do trading, small traders use messaging platforms, corporates using virtual conferences and knowledge sharing online platforms to keep things moving, educators do online tutorials, doctors do online channeling, hospitals use robotics to get closer to patients, people use social media to communicate with friends and families, online banking recommended to help prevent the spread of the epidemic and the list continues,” he added.
Commenting on the occasion, Thushera Kawdawatta, Chief Executive Officer at Axiata Digital Labs said they hope this partnership will connect ‘our’ brands, foster interaction and build strong communities throughout the IT Industry, adding value to the industry and businesses across the country and beyond.
FITIS is the apex body of the ICT sector in the country covering all major industry segments. Axiata Digital Labs is the technology hub of Axiata Group Berhad Malaysia, which is one of the leading groups in telecommunications in Asia.
