Colombo equities were mixed on Monday with analysts saying that investors are anticipating an interest rate hike at today’s Monetary Policy Review by the Central Bank. The result of the meeting will be announced at 7.30 am on Tuesday. The 3Q earnings season is nearing the end and out of 294 listed companies, approximately 237 companies, which represent 80 per cent of market cap, have released their earnings with analysts saying that the aggregate corporate earnings for the 3QFY2014-2105 has risen by 7 per cent year on year. "But nearly 57 companies, including several high cap banks are yet to release the quarter earnings and many predict that some high valued shares may have not performed," an analyst said. The All Share Price Index gained 0.16 per cent to close at 7,326.3, with the S&P SL20 lost 0.04 per cent to close at 4,131.27 on a turnover amounting to Rs. 1 billion. (DEC)
