The benchmark S&P SL 20 Index of the Colombo Stock Exchange on Thursday recorded its highest ever gain for a given day moving up by 6.9 per cent to close at 2,037.14.
Stockbrokers and analysts were alarmed at the amount of new accounts/new buyers and dormant accounts being activated for this fresh wave of buying.
On a turnover of Rs.2.3 billion the All Share Price Index gained 2.78 per cent to close at 4,784.80.
HNB had over Rs.1 billion foreign selling. John Keells Holdings and Bank also had foreign selling. (DEC)
