Dhammika Manjira Perera former Deputy Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) along with another former Director Ronny Ibrahim, have been arrested over investigations into a Rs 5 million misuse of funds at the SEC, a source said.
This monies had originally been given to the Tharunayata Hetak fund, run by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's son, Nimal Rajapaksa.
The alleged fraud is said to have taken place in 2013.
Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
