A visiting European Union (EU) delegation met Sri Lanka’s apparel industry representatives on Monday. During the meeting EU officials had expressed their keenness to work with Sri Lanka, an official present at the meeting, told the Sunday Times. Sri Lanka is likely to make the application to regain GSP + concessions by early 2016, an industry source said following a seminar organised by the EU delegation on Monday. Currently Sri Lanka needs to ensure the country is adhering to the conventions it had signed following which an evaluation would be carried out, the delegation had noted at a seminar . GSP + concessions would be granted within a 10-month window from the time the application is submitted, the delegation had stated. - ENDS -
