George Soros, the global investor and philanthropist who has picked up his share of controversy, and Joseph Stigliz, Nobel Laureate and renowned economist/Professor at Columbia University, are the guests of honour at a high powered economic forum to be held on January 7-8 at the Cinnamon Grand hotel in Colombo.
The "Sri Lanka Economic Forum 2016", an initiative of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, will also see several other top local and foreign personalities attending, the organisers said in a media announcement on Wednesday.
The highpoint of the conference will be a 60-minute “Conversation between Ranil Wickremesinghe, George Soros and Joseph Stiglitz”. Another distinguished attendee and speaker is Montek Singh Ahluwalia, an economist and former Deputy Chairman of the Indian Planning Commission who is currently Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Stern School of Business, New York University.
