The Monetary Board of the Central Bank, for the third occasion in the Supreme Court, on Tuesday failed to submit a cabinet-approved proposal to repay 41 per cent of the deposited money of Golden Key (GK) depositors. The proposal presented by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on June 17 was aimed at repaying depositors with deposits up to Rs. 2 million. However when the fundamental rights petitions filed by depositors came up for the third time on Tuesday after the June 17 proposal, Deputy Solicitor General (DSG) from the Attorney General’s Department said he is yet to receive the final proposal from the Central Bank. His request for a postponement was given and the case put off for August 4.
