Sri Lanka’s Department of Registrar of Companies will soon introduce an online system for company registrations covering the entire country in a bid to improve services, Registrar General of Companies D.N.R. Siriwardena said on Tuesday.
Once the new system is introduced, applications for company registration could be submitted on line and the process would be easy and expeditious, he said adding that applicants outside Colombo need not visit the capital to register their companies.
An agreement to develop, support and maintain the eRegistration of Companies (eROC) system was signed with KMPG in Colombo a short while ago on Tuesday, he revealed.
The total cost will be in the region of Rs. 57 million he said adding that this will be a great impetus for company registration process in Sri Lanka.
eROC project has been initiated in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Department of Registrar of Companies. It has completed a comprehensive Business Process Re-Engineering (BPR) and System Study on the prioritized processes. Based on these requirements the Department of Registrar of Companies has engaged accounting firm KMPG which also provides software development services to develop and commission the eROC and assist to support and maintain the application, he added.
