SriLankan Airlines on Monday announced plans to increase flights to certain destinations in Europe while stopping flights to Rome.
Aimed at increasing capacity on viable routes, the national carrier said it will discontinue its operations to Rome from May 1 this year but would continue to provide onward connectivity to many European and North American destinations through its network of codeshare partners, the airline said.
On the other hand, the carrier said it would add a fifth frequency to Frankfurt from July set to continue during the summer of this year as well. Flights to Paris will continue with four weekly frequencies, the airline said.
The carrier’s London – Colombo route will continue operations as the only airline to fly non-stop between these destinations aboard its A330-300 aircraft.
The airline has also increased its capacity to the Middle East by starting daily flights to Riyadh and six flights weekly to Jeddah. SriLankan Airlines currently flies to seven key destinations in the Middle East namely: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Riyadh, Jeddah and Kuwait with a total of 42 flights a week. (SD)
