The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC’s baby care brand Khomba Baby has partnered with the respected global youth leadership organisation-AIESEC to take the ‘Hoda Purudu 12 steps’ across the country under the theme “World’s Largest Lesson”.
The programme consists of training children between the ages 6-11 years and then conducting a competition to award the best “Khomba Baby Hoda Purudu” student and thereby offer a scholarship in each school. Primary students from 17 selected schools in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara Districts were trained on the 12 steps of “Hoda Purudu” reaching 4,000 children in the first phase of a national role out, the company said in a media release.
Swadeshi has a rich tradition of helping local communities in various CSR projects enriching the lives of communities living in Sri Lanka.
In order to educate children Swadeshi has specially designed a very attractive easy to read colourful book that encourages values. The ‘Swdeshi Khomba Baby ‘Hoda Purudu’ book encourages values such as protecting the environment, self hygiene, love and care for animals, healthy balanced diet, spirituality, caring for the elderly etc. “It is very important for us to instill such values in children at a young age and it all begins at the primary age groups,” said Ms. Amari Wijewardene – Chairperson of Swadeshi.
