In recognition of the excellent mission of imparting Space Science and Astronomy knowledge to the Sri Lankan community in their own language, Science writer and Astronomer Anura C. Perera received the “Pragna Award - 2023’’ at the ‘Dr. C. W. W. Kannangara Memorial Ceremony’ held under the Chairmanship of the Minister of Justice Dr. Wijedasa Rajapaksa.
The event was held recently at the 'Mathugama Pradeshiya Sabha Auditorium’.
The award was jointly presented by the ‘Dr. C. W. W. Kannangara Memorial Foundation’ and the ‘Wings Lanka Foundation’ and was presented to him by the State Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare Anupa Pascual.
Area Manager of Darley Butler & Company Ltd. Shan Ranathunga, Rangeetha Balasooriya, President of Wings Foundation Champika Gunasekara and President of the Dr. C. W. W. Kannangara Foundation Nimal Wickramathanthree were present at the event.

In his special statement, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that debt restructuring agreements will postpone all bilateral loan payments to foreign countries until 2028. Additionally, Sri Lanka will have until 2043 to repay these loans on concessional terms.
