It is a common tradition to raise the flag post at the village level on the occasion of the festival in Catholic Churches.
Nevertheless, at Joseph's College, Colombo, the flag was hoisted at 7.30 am on March 13th reviving this spirit well established by the tradition setting an example to other Catholic schools .
This tradition, initiated by the then Rector Rev. Fr Sylvester Ranasinghe, presently the Rector of Aquinas Higher Education Institute was carried forward by the incumbent Rector, Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi, under whose patronage the flag was raised. It was the fifteenth time this tradition has taken place hitherto.
It is also noteworthy to mention that milk rice and plantain were provided to all students, teachers and non-academic staff.
Rev. Fr. Robinson Wijesinghe, the Director of Kithu Dana Pubuduwa bein the Chief Celebrant on the occasion of the Feast of St. Joseph and College Day on the 19th of March.
The procession carring the statue o St. Joseph paraded within the College premises. Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi ( Rector), Rev. Fr. Ruwan Deshapriya ( Vice Rector) and priestly community, teachers, students and non-academic staff were also participated.
