Lawmaking in Dutch Sri Lanka: Navigating Pluralities in a Colonial Society by Dr. Nadeera Rupesinghe will be launched on Monday, July 22 at the auditorium of the National Archives, No. 7, Philip Gunewardena Mawatha at 4 pm. The launch is open to the public.

The discussion that follows the launch with the author, Prof. Dinesha Samararatne and Dr. Gehan Goonetilleke is also open to everyone.

Meta Real, veteran artist Chandraguptha Thenuwara’s annual memorial exhibition of the events of ‘Black July’ 1983 opens on July 23 at the Saskia Fernando Gallery and will continue until August 13. Acting as a bridge between the past and the present, the exhibition leads the viewer to contemplate unaddressed issues that have persisted for four decades and the implications they could have for the country’s future.

Dr. Sanjiva Wijesinha will deliver this month’s National Trust lecture on “Sri Lanka and the Silk Road of the Sea” on Thursday, July 25 at 6 p.m. at the Auditorium of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka, No. 6, Independence Avenue, Colombo 7.

“Natya Saga’ – a progamme of the dance forms of the country and the unity of communities will be held on Sunday, July 28, at the Bishop’s College Auditorium. Colombo 3. The grand dance show is being held in celebration of 75 years of Kalalaya (Temple of Dance) School of Dance & Music founded by the Sri Lanka Tamil Women’s Union. It is choreographed by ‘Natya Kalamani’ Dr. Nirmala John.
