Kathmandu

On a beautiful Friday morning  Tom Bell spoke about the book he wrote called, ‘Kathamuthu - The biography of a city’. They covered a wide array of topics regarding Kathmandu and Nepal as a whole. The audience sat quietly intently absorbing everything he said.

The political upheaval was one aspect of Nepal that drew Tom in, when he was a young graduate. He also described his experiences in the Nepal earthquake of 2015. The session was perfect for anyone who wanted to know more about the interesting and rich historical city of Kathmandu.

Nandana Sena
As a young child growing up in Kolkata, Nandana Sen played with children on the streets. When it was time for her to go home for dinner, they would come with her and were given the same food as she was. However when they had to leave, this was always something that perplexed Nandana, as she could not fathom why they did not have a house like she did.

One day after school Nandana said that, when she is olderer she would bring someone home and keep them forever. Today, Nandana did exactly what she said would all those years ago as a child, as she now has a daughter of her own whom she adopted.  During the talk that was held, ‘The Child in US’ whichgot underway at 1:30 pm, Nandana discussed the different books she had written as well as what she hoped to accomplish by creating those works of fiction.

Choral performance by Cathedral Choir
One of the most notable events of the 3rd day of the Galle Literary Festival was a ‘Choral’, performance by Ishan De Lanerolle and the Cathedral Choir.  Taking place at the All Saints’ Church at Galle Fort from 6:30 to 8 pm . The church was full of smoke, which gave it ethereal feel to it. The De Lanerolle brother’s voices blended together so harmoniously that it wasn’t possible to distinguish them. The highlight of ‘Choral’ was the song ‘On my knees’, which showcased the brilliance of Ishan’s voice perfectly.
