Local mountaineers and Everest climbers Johann Peries and Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala will set off on their next big adventure on Jan 31, 2019 to the Argentinian Andes.
The duo are off to the Argentinian Andes to climb the 6,962 metre Mount Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayas.
Their mission is to complete 'The Seven Summits Challenge' - which is to summit the highest mountains in each of the seven continents of the world.
They’ve summited two of the seven already : Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa (2014) and Mt. Everest in Asia (2016 & 2018).
The Argentinian snow-capped Mount Aconcagua is the highest in the South American continent and the third peak they will undertake as part of this challenge. The duo have selected the more challenging technical route along the Polish Glacier to attempt the summit.
