The National Trust of Sri Lanka’s 88th lecture in its monthly lecture series will be on “The 43 Group – the first Modern Art movement in Ceylon” by Rohan De Soysa. It will be on Thursday, September 29 at the HNB auditorium, HNB Towers, 479 T.B. Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10 at 6.30 p.m.
The lecture will look at how the 43 Group’s early exhibitions received a mixed reaction from the staid and conservative art world in Ceylon. A brief bio-data of each of the main artists will be accompanied by pictures of their works.
Rohan de Soysa has been a Trustee of the Sapumal Foundation for 35 years and its Chairman for the past five years.
