“Rock Saturday” will stage its first outstation performance this July in Kandy. Initiated in May 2014, the event has been a platform for many young musicians and gospel bands.
Celebrating its third year, the organizers have decided to cater to the youth in Kandy, and will bring “Rock Saturday” to Lighthouse Church, 410/2 Piachaud Gardens, Kandy on Saturday 22 nd July, a statement from the organzisers said.
The event which is intended to present and promote good principles and ethics among the youth was initiated by churches of many denominations, using music as the platform. It also included drama and dance items which add colour to the line-up.
To-date seven (07) Rock Saturdays have been successfully conducted at the Sri Lanka Tourism Board Auditorium, Colombo attracting audiences in excess of 300 per event to a packed venue.
Star performers this year will be the Overall and Band Category Winners of TNL Onstage 2016 Kingdom Life who are also debuting in Kandy. The 8-member urban spiritual band is made up of Thilanka on keyboards, vocals by Gayan, Gloria, Heshan and Subodha, Dexter on bass, Previn on drums, Sheahan on lead guitar. Subodha also doubles as the manager/executive producer of the band. They will perform some of their original music off the recently launched album “Not About Religion”.
