A 17-year old girl was abducted from her home in Walewatta, Ambalanthota when an armed group forcibly entered the premises this morning.
Police said that six individuals armed with firearms and weapons had also assaulted the father and the sister of the girl.
The father of the girl said that a person had threatened him and his elder daughter with a pistol and a knife.
No suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident. Further investigations on the incident continue.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
