This year's presidential elections would see the inclusion of 200,000 new voters, Elections Commission (EC) Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said adding that the 2018 electoral list would be used for the polls.
While explaining that the presidential elections are likely to be conducted between November 9 and December 9, the polls chief said that the EC would be vested with the authority to call for the elections from today (Sept 10).
However, he ruled out that the polls could be conducted on November 9 and 12. Sources at the Elections Commission told Times Online that the polls would not be conducted on November 23 and December 07 as well.
The EC Chairman added that the last date to call for nominations would be on October 15.
