46 families displaced due to bad weather in Nuwara Eliya & Hatton

At least 46 families in Hatton and Nuwara Eliya displaced due to bad weather prevailing in up country area, officials from Disaster Management Centre (DMC) attached to Nuwera Eliya District Secretariat said.

Some 167 persons from 37 families reside in Edly Estate, Dikkoya were shifted to temporary shelters constructed at Edly Estate Tamil Maha Vidyalaywhile another 9 families from Desboard estate in Nanu Oya, Nuwera Eliya displaced to nearby school. Due to bad weather currently prevails in Nuwera Eliya district, minor landslides were reported this week.
