Sixty-four suspects who were arrested for alleged links to the now-banned terror group National Thowheeth Jama'ath (NTJ), have been further remanded until December 31.
They were produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate A.C. Rizwan today (Dec 19).
According to reports, the suspects, who hail from Kattankudy area, were taken into custody in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks.
The suspects are accused of purportedly receiving weapons training at the Nuwara Eliya camp of the NTJ.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
