Around 85 kilograms of heroin has been recovered from a mulit-day fishing trawler under the custody of the Navy yesterday (Aug 18).
Navy Spokesman Lieutenant Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara said the boat containing heroin had been confiscated by the Navy on August 10 in the Southern seas.
Continuous search operations on the vessel which had been anchored at the Galle Harbour had led to the recovery of the large haul of narcotic yesterday.
Lt. Cdr. Sooriyabandara stated that the heroin had been concealed inside a secret box inside the vessel.
