A 90-day detention order has been issued on four persons including Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Municipal Council member Haja Mohideen Ali Usman and his brother Mohideen Sultan Faris, who were arrested for distributing extremist content.
The suspects were produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrates Court today by the Welikada Police who sought a detention order in order to carry out further questioning of the suspects.
Accordingly, court granted permission to detain the suspects under the Prevention of Terrorism Act and take measures to carry out further questioning.
M.J. Mohamed Allath, M.I.Mohamed Fawzan are the other suspects who were arrested along with the councillor.
