All 20 sluice gates of the Thabbowa Reservoir in Karuwalagaswewa were opened last evening due to rising water levels.
The reservior is one of the major reservoirs in the Puttalam District.
The Puttalam District Irrigation Department Office stated that about 12, 000 square feet of water is being discharged from the reservoir every second.
