Grades 6, 7, 8 and 9 in all Government schools and Government approved private schools will resume from Monday, November 22, the Ministry of Education announced.
Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena told Parliament yesterday that the Government will be able to recommence all remaining Grades in Government schools next week.
Accordingly, senior Education Ministry officials led by Secretary to the Education Ministry Prof. Kapila Perera met this morning at the Ministry premises in "Isurupaya," Battaramulla and it was decided during the discussion to recommence these Grades from next Monday.
The Education Ministry earlier decided to reopen schools that were closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak in four stages. Primary classes in schools with less than 200 students were recommenced first followed by primary classes in all schools as the second stage. The GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level classes in schools recommenced as the third stage while the remaining four Grades in schools will now recommenced from Monday.
Accordingly, classes in all Government and Government approved private schools will recommence from Monday (22).
