Another COVID patient who fled Gallella hospital found

Another COVID-19 positive inmate who escaped from the Gallella Hospital in Polonnaruwa on December 31 was located from Anawilundawa in Arachchikattuwa today (6) and taken into custody by the Arachchikattuwa Police.

The inmate was among five COVID positive prison inmates who escaped from the hospital. One inmate who escaped had earlier been found while hiding in Madampe.

The 52-year-old patient had tested positive for COVID-19 during a PCR test conducted on December 22.

Police also arrested another individual who helped hide the patient who was found today. Both are due to be produced before the Chilaw Magistrate's Court.
