President Ranil Wickremesinghe has given directions for the initiation of "Aswasuma" welfare benefit payments, which are set to commence on July 1st.
The payments will be distributed among four social categories, namely transitional, vulnerable, poor & extremely poor, the President's Media Division (PMD) stated.
Additionally, the usual allowances for the differently-abled, elderly & kidney patients will also be provided.
As of yesterday, 91.5% of the eligibility process has been completed, the PMD further said.
