Efforts to control a fire that broke out in the Ella area was continuing in the afternoon, Police said.
In response to a request from the Disaster Management Centre in Colombo, the Sri Lanka Air Force deployed a Bell 212 helicopter to conduct Bambi Bucket Operations at the site where a sudden fire outbreak occurred yesterday (23 July 2023) in the Ella area of Badulla district.
A total of seven Bambi Bucket Operations have been successfully executed by the SLAF, to douse the fire.
Additionally, the Sri Lanka Air Force has mobilized fire engines and skilled firefighters to provide crucial ground support for this ongoing operation.
The fire had spread in the forest area by last night.
