The third booster dose of COVID vaccine will be administered to those above 60 years starting from today (17).
State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana told Parliament on Tuesday (16) that the vaccine drive will commence from Western, Southern, Anuradhapura and Ampara districts. Those who are above 60 and have received the second dose of any anti-COVID vaccine three months ago will be eligible for the booster vaccine.
The US manufactured Pfizer vaccine will be used for the third dose, the Health Ministry said. According to the Epidemiology Unit 128,811 frontline health workers have been given the booster dose.
