The parliament has decided to telecast the parliament budget debate in sign language for the first time.
State Minister Dr Sudharsanai Fernandopulle said that the women’s parliamentary caucus has received a positive response to the proposal made by them that the sitting of parliament should also be telecasted in sign language for the benefit of the hearing impaired community.
Accordingly, the parliamentary business has agreed to the proposal made to the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeygunawardena to telecast the budget debate in sign language also.
The National Budget 2022 will be presented to Parliament by Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa tomorrow (12).
Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation have made arrangements to tele/broadcast live this event from 1.30 pm tomorrow. A simultaneous sign language interpretation will be telecasted live on television during the budget debate.
