The Court of Appeal today dismissed a writ petition filed by the British Instagrammer Kayleigh Fraser challenging the authorities' decision to deport her from Sri Lanka.
Kayleigh Fraser, who had been documenting anti-government protests in Sri Lanka on social media, filed this petition, requesting that the Department of Immigration and Emigration reverse its decision to deport her arbitrarily.
Earlier Immigration and Emigration Department asked the British Instagrammer to leave the country by August 15 for participating in recent anti-government protests and terminated her visa.
On August 2, officials from the Immigration and Emigration Department seized Kayleigh Fraser's passport for examination to determine whether she had violated any of the visa conditions.
As per the reports, she was in the country for medical reasons.
