The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Union expressed concerns that their representatives have not been called in person to make their recommendations before the Committee appointed to make amendments to the Lanka Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024.
The Union wrote to the Secretary to the Ministry of Power Udayanga Hemapala and sought an early date to come before the committee.
The Cabinet of Ministers gave approval to appoint the committee in January on a proposal presented by the Minister of Power. The committee comprises main stakeholders and policy specialists in the field of power and energy and will make recommendations for suitable amendments after studying the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024.
The Unions said they had written to the Committee with their suggestions and had sought a date to appear before it but no such date had been granted so far. They sought an early date to discuss the matters concerned.
