Former MP Namal Rajapaksa today provided a statement to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over funds he allegedly received during the 2010 -2015.
Mr Rajapaksa told the media, after providing the statement, that it was an anonymous complaint which the CID was investigating.
The ex-MP was summoned to the CID and accordingly Mr Rajapaksa turned up to provide the statement.
His statement was recorded over two and half hours.
He called on the government not to politicise such investigations. “It is usually the practice to question former MPs after an election,”he added.
