The Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the Easter Sunday attacks has informed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to carry out further inquiries into intelligence reports that the Katuwapitiya Church suicide bomber’s widow Pulasthini Rajendran alias Sarah has returned to Sri Lanka after fleeing the country to India immediately after the attack.
The CID has been told to carry out further inquiries after Army intelligence reports revealed that Sarah had returned via sea to Mannar.
She had stayed in three locations in Mannar and then travelled to puttalam before heading to Batticaloa. Some of the locations she stayed have been identified.
The Commission was told that Sarah after return had made connections with persons who had escaped arrest over the Easter Sunday attacks, those who are on bail over the incidents and those who had been arrested and released due to lack of evidence.
Accordingly the CID has been told to look into the intelligence reports.
