Four persons aged 90, 60, 78 and 75 died from COVID-19 pneumonia on Friday (15) increasing the total death toll from the virus to 255.
The deceased are residents of Kiribathgoda, Colombo 10, Nawalapitiya and Colombo 15, the Government Information Department said. Over 680 persons were also tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday bringing the total from the second wave to 47,810.
Meanwhile, the isolation status imposed in several areas was lifted from Saturday morning. Minnana Grama Niladhari (GN) division, Bopathwella GN division, Wilegoda GN division, Asgangula GN division and Yakudagoda GN division in Eheliyagoda police area, 675 Thotawatte GN division in Panadura police area and Maggona East and West GN divisions in Beruwala police area were declared isolation free by the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of the Spread of COVID 19.
