A six month grace period to settle electricity bills will be given to domestic, commercial and industrial electricity consumers within areas isolated continuously for more than 14 days, the Cabinet has approved.
The Cabinet has approved a proposal jointly made by Ministers of Electricity and Tourism to provide relief to electricity consumers affected due to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, relief will be provided to film theatres registered under the National Film Corporation. They will be given an opportunity to pay their bills from the months of March to December 2020, in 12 equal instalments this year.
The Cabinet also gave approval to a provision to settle electricity bills and water bills piled up from March 01, 2020 to February 28, 2021 for inns registered under Sri Lanka Tourist Development Authority.
