Cabinet has granted approval for the proposed roadmap and timeline of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) restructuring process, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara said on Twitter.
Minister Wijesekara added that the final draft of the new Electricity Act will be presented to Parliament for approval by the end of May.
Approval has also been granted to establish a reform secetariat, and to obtain assistance of development agencies such as Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank, USAID & Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to conduct a financial and human resource audit and to compete the transition process by October 2023.
