Crimes related to environmental destruction, including illegal felling of trees, sand mining, earth removal, destruction of forests and illegal filling in of lands can be informed to police via the "1997" hotline, Police Headquarters stated.
Issuing a statement, police said that while the 1997 hotline is already in use. and that members of the public were already lodging with the police intelligence bureau as well as police headquarters by contacting this number.
Police said the public can also inform of any complaints related to environmental destruction by calling this hotline.
In addition, the public can also use the 1997 hotline to provide information related to narcotics, incidents that may threaten national security and public order, large scale corruption, organized criminal gangs and other crimes, police further said.
