A special medical clinic for the elephants participating in the Esala Perahara festival was held over the weekend at Sri Dalada Maligawa Kandy.
Under the leadership of Peradeniya Veterinary Faculty Senior Lecturer Professor Ashoka Dangolla, doctors and students of Peradeniya University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine participated in these special clinics.
In addition to the diseases of the elephants, the doctors also supervised the provision of adequate sleep for the animals, the provision of sufficient food and the cleanliness of the premises where the animals are kept.
