The Colombo Stock Exchange slumped on Tuesday, on the back of disturbing war-related development in West Asia, with both indexes crashing.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) fell by 1,290 points to 22,443.38 or by 5.44 per cent while the S&P SL20 fell by 322.32 points to 6,313.65 or by 4.86 per cent. Traders said the sharp falls were largely due to the unsettled conditions in West Asia which has a bearing on Sri Lanka’s economy in terms of fuel supplies, essential shipments and foreign exchange remittances from Sri Lankans working in the strife-torn region.
