Two primary schools in the Nikaweratiya area were completely disrupted due to the fear of the Corona epidemic.
A child of a teacher of Katagamuwa Primary School was infected with the Corona virus and two children of the same school had visited the teacher's house with their parents for the Sinhala and Hindu New Year.
Health officials say that one person in the Danduwa area has been infected with the Corona virus and ten others, including children from two families, have been quarantined and that the school has been disrupted due to parents not sending their children to school.
Five Corona patients have been reported from Nikaweratiya area since the New Year and 38 people have been quarantined as their close associates. They are to be referred for PCR tests, the Nikaweratiya Medical Officer of Health said.
As there is a risk of a recurrence of the Corona pandemic in the Nikaweratiya area, the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) has advised the public to follow their daily routine in accordance with health guidelines.
