The owner and his wife of a private company in Kandana who were arrested for assaulting a 19 year old female employee were released on bail today.
The two persons were arrested after a video on the assault incident went viral on social media.
The couple had been arrested by the Kandana police last night and produced at the Wattala Magistrate courts today where they were released on Rs 200,000 bail each and were ordered to appear in courts on October 23.
Police said that the couple were related to the employee and the assault had taken place on October 3 on allegations that the employee had not performed her duties.
Tamar Amitai, a 25-year-old Israeli tourist who went missing in Uppuveli, Trincomalee, was found safe after a three-day joint search operation today.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe is firm about the President’s five-year tenure, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.
