A record 118 COVID-19 deaths that occurred yesterday (9) have been confirmed by the Director General of Health Services this evening, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID deaths to 5340.
This is the highest daily COVID death toll so far recorded in a single day.
Of the total deaths recorded yesterday, 79 were males while 39 were females. A total of 101 of those who died were aged 60 years and above.
This is the second straight day that the number of COVID deaths has exceeded the 100 mark, with 111 deaths that occured on August 8 confirmed yesterday.
