Dr Neville Fernando, founder of the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital in Malabe has passed away this evening at the age of 89.
He had been undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the IDH Hospital after contracting COVID-19. He had first been admitted to the ICU of the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital before being transferred to IDH.
A former Member of Parliament, Dr Fernando also founded the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM)
