A drug racket operated by a prisoner in remand custody has been busted with the arrest of two persons by the Special Task Force (STF) from Rajagiriya today.
DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspects were carrying 300 grams of heroin and had with them Rs 1.1 million at the time of the arrest. The vehicle in which they were travelling was seized.
Investigations revealed that they were distributing drugs on the instructions of a person in remand custody.
Prison authorities have been trying to prevent persons in custody getting involved in criminal activities via telephone.
